How Much Will it Cost and How Do I Book?

The room rates are as follows:

  • £50.00 per room per night if you book a flexible. This means that you can cancel without charge up to 16:00 on the day of expected arrival. To book the flexible option, send an e-mail to Pablo Castano at reservations@exhistevenage.com. (You can book flexible rooms online but they will cost more; going through Pablo will ensure you get the convention rate).

  • £40.50 per room for advance. You can book this through the Holiday Inn web site but although cheaper, if you use this it means that you will be charged in full at time of booking and there can be no refund if you have to cancel.

Please contact Helen Cross at Helen.cross@scotent.co.uk with any problems or queries. We would also appreciate it if all people booking rooms could advise Helen of their booking details (arrival / departure date and room type) so we can track the level of accommodation that is required. Any special requirements - e.g. non-feather pillows, room near to elevator, etc - should be discussed with the hotel when making the booking. If any problems arise, contact Helen.

Accommodation Alternative

For those on a limited budget, cheaper accommodation can be found at the Corus hotel. Situated in the Old Town, this old farmhouse was once home to John Thurloe, secretary to Oliver Cromwell.

More details can be found on the Corus web site, and rates start from £30 for a single room, bed and breakfast.

Directions to the Corus:

Exit A1(M) at junction 8 and follow signs towards Town Centre. Head over two roundabouts and continue until you join the one way system. Pass first exit for Gravely and turn off at next sign posted ’Old Town’, the hotel is on your left just after the mini roundabout.

Programming

The detailed programme for Con Struction V will be published in early May 2005. However, a summary is as follows.

  • Committee should aim to arrive by 3 pm on Friday for a committee meeting.

  • The main event will start on Friday evening, with a brief introduction from the co-chairs and a social evening. It's therefore not essential to be present on Friday evening, although we recommend arriving then so as to be ready for a prompt start on Saturday morning.

  • Saturday and Sunday will be formed of a mixture of divisional break-outs and a high level "walk-through" of the convention. During the walk-throughs, each division will have an opportunity to take the whole group through their plans for the Convention. The objective of this is to get everyone up to speed with the big picture and to identify any gaps and overlaps between the different activities.

  • The event will finish with a final wrap-up at 3 pm on Sunday, allowing people to leave at 3.30 pm. (Committee will need to stay on until 6 pm for a final committee meeting and debrief).

Registration

As usual membership of ConStruction V is FREE. However, we would like to know if you plan to come so please send an e-mail to Helen Cross at Helen.cross@scotent.co.uk to us know that you expect to attend. Anyone who is currently a staff or committee member of Interaction, or who thinks they might like to help out is welcome to come along.

We would also be grateful if anyone who is booking accommodation in the Hotel could let Helen know so that we can keep track of the number of rooms booked in our name.
